It started with “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head” by B.J. Thomas and ended with “Escape (The Pina Colada Song) by Rupert Holmes. WXPN’s Dan Reed recently took his High’s In The 70’s programming feature and turned it into a “Solid Gold #1 Hits of the 70s Weekend.

On Saturday and Sunday, February 28th and March 1st, Reed played every number one Billboard hit from the Pop Charts starting in 1970 and ending in 1979. The weekend elicited hundreds of comments on Facebook and twitter from XPN listeners. No doubt, we were treated to some of the best and worst music from the Seventies.

We got a lot of requests to make a Spotify playlist, and thanks to the amazing effort by a WXPN member in Sugar Land, Texas, we have one. Referring to herself as “Loyal listener Barbara” whenever she calls in, she’s been a longtime listener and member of the station, even though she also listens to her hometown station, KPFT.

Below, listen to the Solid Gold #1 Hits of the 70s Weekend Spotify list, and our thanks to loyal XPN member and listener Barbara for pulling this together.
