Rebel and Sophia's story.

The first of a three part series. This novel contains a small snippet which has already been released in the Owned: An Alpha Anthology, however it is followed by a full story installment.

Sophia

Sometimes, you don't mean to become another person. Sometimes the choice is made for you, and pretending is the only thing that keeps you going. When Alexis Romera is taken and her kidnappers find her fake ID in her purse, she must become Sophia in order to keep her family safe. Revealing her real identity to the man she's sold to would be easy enough, but can she trust him? Hell bent on revenging the murder of his uncle, Rebel doesn't seem all that interested in playing things safe.

In fact, nothing about the secretive, dark and brooding MC president seems safe at all.

Rebel

What do you do when the man who raised you is murdered, and the only witness is kidnapped girl who's being sold as a sex slave? You buy her, of course. As president to the most powerful motorcycle club in America, Rebel isn't lacking in power. There are strings the man can pull, and entire criminal organisations and corporate businesses alike would fall to their knees. However, along with such power comes intense interest. The DEA have their eye fixed solely on the MC...and they're just waiting for Rebel to trip up.

Getting Sophia to testify is the only way to bring the Los Oscuros cartel down. The beautiful, dark haired, dark eyed woman is belligerent and uncooperative and unlikely to bend to his will, but Rebel has a few tricks up his sleeve to make her compliant--he'll charm her until she's bending over backwards to please him.

Of course, falling for her might cause a few hiccups along the way...

Ever since reading the 'Blood & Roses' series, I've wanted to get the full story of Alexis, Sloane's kidnapped sister. Finally, I got around to reading 'Rebel' after having it sit on my shelf for a while. Although it wasn't exactly what I expected, it was a fantastic story.

Despite my initial impression from the 'Blood & Roses' series, Alexis wasn't in the possession of the human traffickers for long. Kidnapped after witnessing a murder, she is auctioned off quickly. Luckily, she is purchased by the nephew of the man that she saw murdered. Her decision to try and help a stranger may have placed her in danger, but ultimately, it saved her also.

For most of this book, Alexis (aka Sophia) is trying to stay alive. She doesn't fully understand what it is that her latest captor wants from her. She just knows that she needs to keep her family safe, which means keeping her real identity a secret.

Once she figures out that her new "owner", Rebel, isn't going to rape her or pimp her out, she begins to get to know him. Despite her best efforts, she cannot deny that she has a strong attraction to the outlaw biker. Eventually, they act on their attraction.

Although I already knew many of the facts surrounding Alexis and Rebel's story from the 'Blood & Roses' series, this book began to fill in the details. My perception of Alexis changed drastically after reading this book. No longer, do I view her as a selfish, spoiled and uncaring person, as I did before. This book made me look at her actions from a different vantage point.

Overall, this was a great story! It did end with a big cliffhanger, so brace yourself. I listened to the audible version and the next book has not been released in that format yet. As soon as it is out, I'll be continuing this series.

You believe in vengeance?"
"You mean like revenge?"
He shakes his head. "Revenge is a selfish act. Retaliation for something. Vengeance is a different thing altogether. It's about obtaining justice, usually for someone who can't claim it for themselves."

Ever since I finished Burn, I have been practically salivating to get my hands on Rebel and Sophia's story. After the tiny peak that we get in the Blood & Roses series, you already knew that this was going to be something amazingly good. And if you haven't yet read the Blood & Roses series, don't worry, because you can easily start with this book first.

One night where she's in the wrong place and an even worse time, Alexis Romera's life as she knows it comes to a screeching stop. She witnesses something that she's not supposed to see and becomes a liability to men that you don't even want knowing you exist. Taken. Sold. She is no longer Alexis but Sophia. Fearful for her family's lives she keeps her true identity a secret while she fights to escape the clutches of men that wouldn't think twice before slitting her throat.

I wasn't sure how I'd feel about Sophia after learning some of the things that I learned about her in the B&R series. But being inside her head definitely fixed that. Even though she's young, this is one tough bitch. And luckily for me, her age never leads to any TSTL decisions which is so often the case. Callie Hart did a phenomenal job in giving the readers a heroine that while has her vulnerability and fear very much present, she still manages to maintain a backbone without being too obvious about it.

Now what can I tell you about Rebel? This was definitely a character that was not at all what I had expected him to be. He was more. So much more. This is no everyday anti-hero. While he is definitely still that, he also has so much depth to him.

I appreciated the fact that the author didn't simply pain him in black and white. If ever there was a character that was very firmly in the gray area, Rebel is that. While he has his bad he also has a lot of hidden good which you get to see unravel piece by piece throughout the book.

I also appreciated the fact that there was no insta-lust to be found here. The relationship development between Sophia and Rebel is very realistic in the fact that it's a slow build. I simply couldn't imagine it any other way. While Sophia is certainly attracted to him right away, she's also as equally untrusting of him. There was this delicious undercurrent of sexual tension throughout all their interactions that makes for some extremely interesting reading.
You think you use your brain when you're having sex?"
"Oh, Sophia. I use my brain. Every time I sleep with a woman, I'm using my head to figure out what she likes. How she likes it. What I can do to have her screaming my name until her throat's raw.:

I loved that the author didn't throw these characters together right away. You truly get to experience Sophia's struggle with her circumstances and her attraction to her unlikely "captor".
...I get the feeling sex with Rebel really would be criminal.

This is a continuing story arc that will have 2 additional parts, so it does end on a cliffhanger. However as interesting as the cliffy was, it wasn't that bad because it's more of a plot cliffy than a relationship one. If you were a fan of the Blood and Roses series, then this book is a must read. And if you haven't yet discovered this fantastic author, there's no better book to start with than this one. I can't wait to see where Sophia and Rebel's story will lead to next. All I can say is that the set up sounds absolutely delicious.
I can't look away, though. I could close my eyes, but there's something in the way he's staring at me, so intense and focused, as though I'm the only thing he sees or cares about in this moment. I already know, deep down in my bones, that being looked at like that by him will be an addiction I won't be able to shake.

"I never thought I'd die on the streets of Seattle. I never thought I'd be the kind of person to wish for death, either."

Being a huge fan of Ms Hart's Blood & Roses series, it's really a no-brainer that I wouldn't get my grabby hands on this spinoff series the moment it was announced! For those who've read the B&R series, the name Rebel will not come as a stranger to you and if you think you've got him figured out back then, the first instalment in the Dead Man's Ink will prove you otherwise. But fret not for those who have not met the infamous MC biker yet, I'll promise you'll find yourself wanting to make acquaintance with him after this one!

Rebel kicks off with an intense scene where Alexis Romera finds herself being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Given the unfortunate circumstance, she lands up in the grasp of one brutal cartel named Los Oscuros and soon finds herself entangled up in a vicious world that only one person can rescue her from. Being bought off by Rebel, President of the Widow Makers club with an underlying motive, will she be able to trust him to protect her from the people who vow to kill her if she spilled the crime she witnessed?

It's no surprise that the author manages to grip me right from the start and in no time, I found myself once again immersed in yet another world where cartels and MC collide, where vicious crimes go unpunished and the need of vengeance seeps from the pages.

"Revenge is a selfish act. Retaliation for something. Vengeance is a different thing altogether. It's about obtaining justice, usually for someone who can't claim it for themselves."

Rebel's character was one that took me by surprise a lot because he isn't your typical badass MC anti-hero. Sure enough, he's done some bad things in his life but beyond that tough exterior also lies a smart (and I mean, book-smart) MC biker which could whoop your ass in a minute. Also, did I mention dirty-talking? ;) A mix of wit and alpha-male sexy; that my ladies, is almost something you don't see everyday.

"Oh, Sophia. I use my brain. Every time I sleep with a woman, I'm using my head to figure out what she likes. How she likes it. What I can do to have her screaming my name until her throat's raw."

I could really appreciate being able to see Alexis' side of the story with this one as we never got enough closure from her character in B&R. Honestly, I wasn't a fan of her back then but true enough, this series will help to shed some light on her part. We get to see the transformation of Alexis into Sophia as she comes to terms with the unexpected fate dealt to her. Just like her sister, Alexis proves to be a feisty heroine but you can definitely still sense the ever-present fear within her as she never fully gave herself to Rebel.

The romance between Rebel & Sophia was a slowburn one which I'd appreciate in these situations as it comes off realistic. However, there is no denying of the sexual tension that runs between these two and trust me, it'll build up and come off explosive!

Overall, I would say that this book served as a prequel to the series as it allows you to acclimate to the key characters in play especially the charming Widow Makers men and learn some interesting tidbits about Rebel's life. You won't be finding a steamy read here but you'll get a rather comprehensive outlook into this exciting MC-Cartel world that Callie brings to the table once again. It really sets the groundwork for an amazing series to come and throw in that cliffy ending right there, I can already sense how thrilling the next instalments will play out!

Rebel is proof that she can put a spin to a typical MC trope and stamped her own signature Callie twist that made it such a refreshing read for me, love it!

Rebel is the first of a 3-part series that is a spinoff from the Blood & Roses series. You are NOT required to read the B&R series prior to reading the Dead Man Ink's series.

Gluttony thou hath a name – and thy name is Kelly . . . .

Palm Springs commercial photography

This was the book that caused my enjoyment of the motorcycle porno mechanical journal to cease – momentarily that is, because I immediately picked up a new one after this failure and it’s back on like Donkey Kong, Jack. Alright. Y’all ready for this????? Be forewarned - there will be spoilage. Now all aboard the Hot Mess Express . . .

Palm Springs commercial photography
(Sidenote: Did you know if you Google “hot mess” a whole bunch of Courtney Love gifs will show up. That amuses me to no end.)

Rebel is the first in a series (ack not a series!!!!) and I hated it pretty much immediately. But I am a big girl who does not know how to DNF a book so I buckled down and confronted things head on – with a little bit of help from a good friend . . . .

Palm Springs commercial photography

This whole book was just a mess. To begin with it’s another one of those “female lead falls in love with her captor who isn’t really even a captor, but instead is pretending to be in order to keep her safe” storylines. Why in the name of all that is holy do these sumbitches not just f’ing tell the broad what’s really going on?!?!?!?!? Drives me batshit. On top of that, “Rebel” the biker drives some sort of crotchrocket instead of a Harley. Um no thank you please. PLUUUUUUUUS they wear hoodies. Seriously? Hoodies?!?!?!?!

All of the superficial Judgey McJudgerson bologna aside, then we get to the plot. There’s a lot of it so pay attention. Sophia witnesses a murder and is captured by superbadguy son of a drug cartel leader so he can make with the bangbang and keep her as a sex prisoner. Daddy Dearest somehow is the stupidest M-F’er in the history of drug lords and lets Sophia be sold to the highest bidder. Enter Rebel (and his hoodie) to fork over the cash. Turns out he has a connection to dead dude and needs Sophia alive to help nail the bad guys. But they’re really all bad guys and run drugs and guns and WTF you’re seriously considering a court of law being the place to avenge this death? Weird. Anyshits – add in another superbadGIRL this time (because yay equality) and things get even more convoluted and also there is a gross voyeurish sex scene full of squick and all sorts of no . . . .

Palm Springs commercial photography

THEN add in Rebel’s father who is Donald Trump the farking Governor of Alabama or some shit and Rebel and Sophia attending a fundraiser. What the what?!?!?!?!

Still with me? Okay, so alllllllllllllllllll of this is happening and, of course, Sophia’s “body is betraying her” and the same old song and dance because – well, because it’s a porno and it wouldn’t be complete without some magic penis . . .

Palm Springs commercial photography

The action comes to a head (hehehehehe that's what she said) with the two having sex outside at the event like up against a concrete pillar or some such nonsense rather than in a nice comfy bed inside the mansion or even on the kitchen table or something. I mean concrete pillar? That sounds delightful (NOT). Holy cement burn, Batman.

Anyway, this 100% DID. NOT. WORK. for me and by the cliffhangery end I was all . . .

Palm Springs commercial photography

Good news is, this puppy costs ZERO dollars right now on Amazon so you’re not out anything if you hate it. Better news is I read almost everything wrong and everyone else will probably love it.

FOUR POINT FIVE STARS

"We're not just a motorcycle club. We're criminals. And we're really fucking good at not getting caught."

I've been intrigued by Rebel since we got a glimpse of him in the Blood & Roses series. From that series we learned he was the President of a mc and not someone you wanted to make mad at you.

"I don't need an old lady. I need an equal who will still shoot someone in the face for me if I need them to."

After I read that part I knew I was out for being his old lady. My gun skills are lacking plus the whole outlaw life style probably isn't going to suit me. BUT ... good thing Sophie is feisty because she's giving Rebel a run for his money.

"Revenge is a selfish act. Retaliation for something. Vengeance is a different thing altogether. It's about obtaining justice, usually for someone who can't claim it for themselves."

The story centers around vengeance or as Sophie first sees it - revenge. Sophie has to decide if she wants to be part of the plan or not. Obviously there's more to the whole is it revenge or vengeance but once you read the story you'll get to decide for yourself.

The series is a spin off of Blood & Roses but you don't need to read B&R to enjoy this book. In this series, Dead Man's Ink, book 1 & 2 have been released. I haven't heard when book 3 will be released.

3.5 rebel stars!

Well, color me intrigued and hooked. Rebel is the first book from Callie Hart's Dead Man's Ink series. This is a spin off of her Blood & Roses series, and while the series is connected, there is no need to read Blood & Roses for readers to enjoy this book. I haven't read her other series but I still enjoyed this one. And just based from my experience with this book, I am definitely reading the Blood & Roses series.

While this book follows a mostly common captive story, it's still different in the way the author was able to present it. Yes, it has very dark undertones but there are some weirdly lighthearted moments.

But what really made this book an enjoyable one for me was the development of Rebel and Sophia. There wasn't anything insta about it. There is definitely an attraction between them but I liked that the author didn't focus on it too much. She actually went to patiently build up this world and each of her characters. I really, really appreciated that. Most of the time, once the hero and heroine meets, the story and character development takes and backseat to the couples attraction for each other.

I was shocked at the ending though. I expected a cliffhanger but I was unprepared by how abrupt it was. I thought I was missing pages or something. I actually wanted it to continue until I get some answers, but no answers yet.

The only reason I rated it 3.5 and not a full four is because this felt too introductory to me. It didn't feel settled it. Just when things got interesting, the proverbial carpet got yanked out from under me. But don't be fooled, this book and this whole series is definitely worth starting.

Rebel is the first of 3 in the Dead Man's Ink series and can be read before, after or independently to the Blood & Roses series.

Since being introduced to Rebel and Sophie in Callie Harts' previous series, Blood & Roses, I have been so excited to read about this couple and I wasn't disappointed.

The book begins with Alexis (aka Sophie) witnessing a brutal murder and seeing things very far removed from her normal and predictable life. One minute she has a loving family and a nice boyfriend, the next she is sold. Her new owners are the Cartel, but somehow ends up being the property of Rebel, who is president of criminal motorcycle club, The Widow Makers.

Rebel wants Sophie to help him bring down the Cartel leaders that killed the man she witnessed dying but he won't force her to do anything she doesn't want to do. He has to convince her to trust him willingly and for the first time in his life he is thrilled to find a woman who he has met his match with.

A slow burning romance develops, Sophie is wondering if she is suffering from Stockholm Syndrome as she fights her attraction more and more as she discovers that Rebel is far from the person she thought he was when he first took her from the people who changed her life forever. Not only that but she is finding that with her name change comes a transformation within herself as a woman.

Sexual tension is high and when Rebel finally convinces Sophie to trust him, the result is explosive.

_ _ _ _

I loved Sophie, she was not a weak person and she stood up for herself and was a feisty heroine that refused to go down without a fight.

Rebel was an enigma, he has so many layers to him and a history that deserves a book of its own. I loved how he was so honourable despite being a criminal and a killer.

A fantastic start to what will no doubt be a gripping series.

Rebel is about power, fear, trust and most of all, vengeance.

The Widow Makers MC club is the most powerful in America and a little different, I love their equality ethos, the way they like to blend in, their moral code and rules. They’re criminals but they have a heart, especially Rebel, their President, he sets the tone perfectly. Rebel seeks justice for his uncle whilst rival criminals want their gun and drugs business and will stop at nothing to achieve this. The Widow Makers level of power also attracts unwelcome interest from the DEA. There are many elements to this multi layered MC book, and I really enjoyed exploring them.

Rebel, the MC Hero, is loyal, intelligent, fierce and totally charismatic with his brooding, secretive and dark nature. I felt his presence on the page through his dialogue, inner thoughts and the heroine’s viewpoint. I love the way his character is uncovered throughout the story showing the darker aspects along with his softer side, giving light and shade to the prose. His story is edged with darkness from the moment he enters his world, a wealthy world tinged with sadness and now immersed in darkness with a need for vengeance.

Alexis is sassy, outspoken, beautiful and confident. Her fear takes hold of her at certain points, understandably, but her inner-fierce-self shines through, even in her darkest times.

Rebel is struck by her beauty at first glance but equally knows the reality of the situation.

He knows who he is and makes no apology for it.

Does he do that for Alexis?

The relationship element is a perfect slow burn and wouldn’t have worked any other way.... in direct contrast, if I’m being picky there are a couple of 'obvious' moments within the story towards the end and one element seemed a little too quick... but that's a minor element and didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story.

There’s an array of characters, good people, evil, violent, twisted people, ones who’d have no qualms in ending a life just to prove a point and enjoy the experience. Sometimes having so many people to think about can detract from my enjoyment of a story but despite all the characters, Rebel flows consistently, keeping its story focused in an engaging and intriguing manner with pictures and emotions. All the time keeping me thinking about what's going to happen next? Each character adds something to the story, they all have a purpose to serve in carrying the story forwards in some capacity.

The further I went into Rebel, the more intriguing it became. There are a vast amount of layers to uncover, layers that captured my attention and gripped me. Things are going to get even nastier and no doubt bloodier as the series progresses and I'm more than ready. I'm hoping I get a big tug on my emotions, I think it will come, I feel the angst potential in the story. It ends on an…. Oh. My. Goodness! Leading nicely to the next book. A brilliant dramatic end to the first part but one that didn't leave me hanging too much. If you're a fan of MC books, I highly recommend Rebel.

This is why I love Callie Hart! Rebel is fast paced, sexy and leaves you guessing.

“Revenge is a selfish act. Retaliation for something. Vengeance is a different thing altogether. It’s about obtaining justice, usually for someone who can’t claim it for themselves.”

We first meet Alexis when she is walking home from visiting her father. She is minding her own business when a dying man approaches her asking for help, seconds later the perpetrators he is running from confront them both. In that moment Alexis's life as she knew it is over. She taken captive and is held while she is waiting to be bought by a sex trafficker.

The dying man wasn’t just anyone, but the uncle of a rival MC. When they discover there was a girl who was captured trying to help his dying uncle Rebel decides step in and rescue her. This isn't a completely selfless act as they may need her to testify against the murderers. Rebel orchestrates the purchase of Alexis, who convinced her captor she is Sophia in order to keep her family safe. Sophia struggles to survive and fights for her freedom while trying to understand her new life.

Things between Sophie and Rebel progress throughout the story as both parties need something from the other. Rebel needs Sophie to be willingly to help them if it comes down to it and Sophie needs to get back home to her family. Rebel is such a great character. He is so intelligent, fiercely loyal and a sexy as sin dirty talker. Needless to say I am a definite fan of Rebel.

I was also really impressed with Sophie, she is a really strong character and fighter. I can’t even begin to think of what I would do in her situation, but throughout it all she remained true to herself. I loved her feisty nature and her intelligence, being a psychology major she was constantly examining herself. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t annoying or obnoxious, but really showed how she was aware of her surroundings and the consequences of her choices.

One of my my favorite things about MC books is the raw, gritty nature of their relationships. I was not disappointed with Rebel. I loved his dirty talking ways and how upfront he was with his desires.

There are so many other variables involved, but you will just have to read it to find out. I will just say Rebel is definitely a different type of MC book. This is just the first installment and I can tell things are going to get a lot deeper. Usually MC books are fighting and waging war against other MC’s, The Dead Man’s Ink Series is starting off with a bang and appears it will be exploring a lot more than the usual club drama. I can't wait to see what happens next.

This is a crazy quick read, not just in length, but in the way it is action packed and has you dying to turn the page. I highly recommend this read if you are a fan of MC books and looking for a hot, sexy, action packed read.

I'm a huge fan of Callie Hart's Blood and Roses series so when I first heard Rebel would be getting his own story, it was an absolute no brainier I had to get my hands on it. With that being said, I naively thought that having some of the scene set previously would give me an in. Wrong. Even though it may feature some characters we were introduced to, this is a new story and anyone who hasn't read the B&R series can pick this up without loosing out.

Where to begin? I'll start by saying, I've got to hand it to the Romera's. They raised some kick ass daughters. From the little knowledge I had of Alexis I have to say I straddled the line of dislike for her, but I'm now firmly on the side of like for this girl. She has the same streak that endeared me to Sloane and looking forward to seeing her character develop.

 photo 3FFE5333-0777-4EEA-B592-0EE3C7A99A81_zpshxitxyeb.jpg

I'm going to be really lame and not mention anything in the way of the plot. I will say from the get go, Callie sets a vivid scene. It starts of intense and the momentum continues at a great pace. The transformation from Alexis to Sophia sees her take on many forms. Witness, captive, leverage and finally, come to some form of acceptance. It's a thrilling ride littered with a few penny dropping moments amongst the angst and tension.

I want him to mark me. I want him to make me his. I know with a hollow, terrifying certainty that I’m never going to want to be anyone else’s ever again.

Reading Rebel reaffirms Callie can produce the goods, that Blood and Roses wasn't a one series wonder and with such an impressive start, it has the ammunition to be just as good. Although Zeth will always be among my favourite heroes, with Rebel I can feel my obsession starting all over again.

This is a spinoff of Callie Hart's AWESOME The Blood & Roses Series Box Set. I'm a HUGE fan of Ms. Hart and Zeth Mayfair is just ALL that!!

This is like a prequel to the B&R series and can be read before or after that series. Either way, it really compliments the B&R series as it gives you more history and depth into some of main characters.

This is the story of Rebel, the president of the Widow Makers MC and Alexis (Sophia) Romera. No surprise as Callie had me from the beginning. It starts off right at the part most fans of B&R will want: Alexis' abduction. One of the biggest burning questions from that series was why was she taken, what happened to her and how did she wind up with Rebel. Also, why she's called Sophia? All of this is answered.

This was a great beginning to this series and the whole captive/captor focus was done well. While there's attraction and sexual tension between Sophia and Rebel, the pace was just right with a slow burn between them, which I thought really worked well. I was able to connect with Sophia and also understand why and how things unfolded. This was dark and dirty with some action, danger and some well placed heat.

If you're looking for some serious sexy times, you won't get that but like I said before, I think this worked really well. And not to worry, Ms. Hart doesn't disappoint with the mounting sexual chemistry and when these two finally get it on...HOT!!

Looking forward to Rogue.

Part 1 of 3. Callie Hart, need I say more!

BLURB:

4.5 REBEL-ICIOUS STARS!!

There's a new book boyfriend in town, and his name is REBEL!!!! He's mine, but don't worry, he has a few hot friends too!!

So if you've read Callie's previous Blood & Roses series, you think you have a lot of Rebel's story worked out right? WRONG!!

This book snatches you up and Los Oscuros will take you hostage right along with Alexis/ Sophia from the word GO!! It is a full-length, so longer than Callie's previous books but, regardless, I read this puppy in one sitting. The story is fast-paced, intense, thrilling. I had my heart in my mouth, pretty much the entire time.

 photo 10950145_1577954569116226_2096611034_n_zps2077bde2.jpg

Callie did what she does best here, she lured me in with her expert story-telling and made me connect with a new set of characters. This book is crazy suspenseful. From page one, we are along-side of Alexis as she crashes into the very shady Oscuros. Talk about being at the wrong place at the wrong time!!

 photo TRUSTTEASERREBEL_zps44c309c6.jpg

Given Alexis/Sophia's situation, she is definitely very untrusting of Rebel upfront. But I absolutely loved the slow burn of her going from fearing him, to doubting him, to sympathizing for him, to being a friend, to more. The steam here between them is pretty concentrated, compared to some of Miss. Callie's ah-hem....previous works...BUT it's still there and the stage is set for much, much more!!! Regardless, they have some explosive chemistry and very witty banter. I loved every scene where these two were together.

 photo 10689970_1575111789400504_4612358816516233132_n_zpse47e75ca.jpg

The ending is somewhat of a cliffy one, as far as the story, not so much the couple, which I can handle. I can't wait to see where this story goes next. And oh...Maria Rosa? You're a crazy bitch!

And Cade and Carnie?! I've got your number boys and I want more!!! ;)

4 Rebel-with-a-cause Stars!

 photo 326E0B16-36FB-4707-911D-97A4959C0B9B_zpseoco2mom.jpg

When I saw the opportunity to read Rebel, by Callie Hart, it was a no-brainer. I'd first gotten introduced to the awesomeness of this author when I read her Blood & Roses series (I've actually stopped briefly to read this and then I'll resume/finish it). Rebel is a spin-off series to the characters in Blood & Roses. You, however, do NOT need to read B & R prior to reading this as there's no spoilers.

Alexis, while walking along a quiet Seattle street, stumbles upon a gravely injured older gentleman. She can't help but offer assistance. That decision will cost Alexis her freedom... She's now a witness and is quickly abducted by a Mexican drug cartel...the Los Oscuros. Just before she's taken by this group of men, a man on a motorcycle with a Widow Maker's cut halts them. Clearly they're rivals and when this man identifies the man that's been murdered, he declares war.

Rebel is the president of the Widow Makers MC. He's also the nephew of the man murdered in the street in cold blood...the man who raised him. He will seek vengeance. And he'll also find a way to save the girl that's being abducted, the one witness to put his uncle's killers behind bars.

You believe in vengeance?"
"You mean like revenge?"
He shakes his head. "Revenge is a selfish act. Retaliation for something. Vengeance is a different thing altogether. It's about obtaining justice, usually for someone who can't claim it for themselves."

On the surface, Rebel is a brooding outlaw but deep down, he's a man with scars from a sadistic father's abuse, an ex-Marine, and a complete contradiction between his outward appearance and his inner true self. Sophia he will purchase from the cartel...and somehow convince her she's not jumped from one lion's den to another. He will seduce the woman if he has to in order to get her testimony.

 photo B65BC3BF-4D36-429D-91EC-BCA5D0C82193_zpsvwtivvf0.png

On the full scale of MC books, I'd define Rebel as pretty mild. MC reads usually promise the reader a gritty plot line with outlaws that have their own set of rules...weapons, drugs, violence and "old ladies." I guess this book has all the above (no old ladies though) but I actually LIKED this group of MC guys! They're by no means good guys but they're hearts and flowers compared to most of the other MC series I've read. For this reason, I'd highly recommend Rebel to readers just venturing into this trope.

Rebel reminded me of a long prequel versus a full novel. It's spent mostly introducing us to both Alexis and Rebel. We learn just what Rebel has gone through the past years to make him the way he is...to fight for the causes he fights. Alexis is a tough nut to crack. She refuses to admit her real name to protect her family...so she is "Sophia Letitia Marne," the name on her fake ID found in her wallet when she was taken.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed this story, I have to admit it dragged a bit. I guess I was expecting a typical plot line where there's character introductions, a conflict, and resolution. Instead, this captured me as more of a getting to know you book where, by the time the book ends, the reader is 110% invested in their story. Unfortunately , it'll take book two to give us the real happenings of the story...the conflict...the resolution. Tis the life of trilogies, I guess. Will Alexis be rescued? Will Rebel continue to venture the high road or succumb to the pressures of war against the Los Oscuros... against Hector Ramirez. Will he get blood on his hands or count on the law to get his uncle the justice he deserves?

I think it's safe to say that fans of the steamy Blood and Roses series won't get the same kind of steam factor here.... What am I saying exactly? Virtually....

 photo 05694050-F352-42C0-9AA2-1F4F6AB32F27_zpsph1zma6q.gif

I mean, crap, they had great chemistry. The sexual tension was there. Come on Rebel, you're an outlaw MC president! I was ready to offer them couples counseling!

Get. It. On. Already! This is Callie Hart, the queen of dirty-talking smoking hot Alpha heroes that make your kindle SMOKE! Commence lady blue balls! So if sex is a must, this book may not be for you. Do we at least get some lovin? This sounds like a total contradiction to my hatred of insta-lust. I guess I like something in the middle. It doesn't have to be 100% realistic as I do understand she's essentially a captive but I guess I'd prefer a bit more steamy interludes.

We DO get some Alpha-talking awesomeness, however!

Looking forward to book two. This book ends in a mother of a cliffy, by the way. You're welcome.

Back to her smokin' hot, smut filled Blood & Roses series.

"Things like this don’t happen. This is the stuff of nightmares and movies, and horror stories young women are told by their elders to keep them safe. It was sure as hell never supposed to happen to me."

When I read the Blood and Roses series, the complex plot, witty text, and the deeply rooted character development captivated me. In Blood and Roses, we are introduced to Rebel and Sophia. We knew that their story was special! Believe me when I say, what we learned about them in Blood and Roses barely brushed the surface. When I found out that Rebel was coming out, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it!

description

Alexis is your typical modern American young adult. She spends her days taking college classes, dating nice preppy boys, and she spends her weekends at church camps. Alexis is just out walking one day when she witnesses a brutal murder. She tries to help the injured party and ends up being taken by some very scary man. She is terrified and stunned!

While she is being abducted, Cade (an MC member) witnesses the abduction and is immediately drawn to help her. Before she is swept away by her abducters, he has time to whisper a warning to her.

"Tell them you’re a virgin. Whatever happens, make sure Hector knows that."-Cade

Alexis is forced to endure physical abuse. She is emotionally exhausted and thrown directly into the throngs of a Mexican Cartel/pimp extraordinaire.

"I get to my feet. I go inside the house. I think, perhaps, I will never see my family again."-Sophia
description

While in captivity, they find a fake drivers license and assume that is her real name and information.

“Sophia Letitia Marne,” Raphael reels off. “Twenty-one years old. Student at the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle.”

Meanwhile, Cade informs Rebel of the death of his loved one and tells him of Alexis’ existence and abduction. Rebel decides that he needs to save Alexis. He needs her to be alive to testify against the evil that has torn apart a piece of his family.

Rebel is delicious, dangerous, and admirable. I knew he was a good man from the way he loved Sophia ruthlessly in the B and R series but it was such a treat to get a glimpse into his background.

Rebel buys Sophia from Hector. He has a plan to keep her safe and gain her testimony from the murder she witnessed.

"I am sold. People have taken longer to buy a pack of cigarettes"-Sophia

Sophia and Rebel don’t fall into bed together the first night they are together. Sophia is still scared and trying to keep her defenses locked down. Rebel is grappling with trying to protect the club, protect his family, and disregard the attraction that is building for Sophia.

"She looks up at me, and bam. It hits me at possibly the most inopportune of moments: she’s beautiful. even when she’s crying, face covered in running mascara, she’s breathtaking."-Rebel

description

As soon as Sophia is at the club, Rebel begins to struggle with his feelings for her. Who is this woman and why has she captivated him? He has never needed anyone before.

"I don’t need an old lady. I need an equal who will still shoot someone in the face for me if I need them to."-Rebel

When it comes to Sophia, let's just say Rebel has definitely met his match! The plot continues to thicken. The cartel action is heating up and Sophia is just beginning to understand the mess that she is in. Rebel is starting question what the hell he is doing.

As if things aren't crazy enough, Rebel has to take a trip home. He decides to take Sophia on for the ride. He makes a deal with her. If she still wants to go home after the trip, he will let her go. When they arrive in Rebel’s hometown, this is when things begin to really begin between the two.

After experiencing the sharp pain of Rebel's dad, Sophia's connection to Rebel is strengthened and she knows what she has to do.

“I swear nothing will happen to you, sugar. I’ll keep you safe, no matter what. Your family, too. From here on out, from now until you decide you need to leave, you’re under the Widow Makers ’ protection, and so are they.”-Rebel

description

Overall, I highly recommend this book. Although this is a standalone, I think it’s better to read Blood and Roses first. It really helped to see Rebel and Sophia in the future. It made me appreciate this book so much more. I would have loved to have had more of these two together and been able to watch their love grow. I felt really sad when it was over. Of course, that is the amazing Callie’s Hart's MO…..always leave them wanting more! Well, I do want more! The action, raw writing, and amazing characters will keep me coming back! Anxiously awaiting book 2! My kindle will be ready!

“You’re mine, now, Soph. For as long as you want to be, you’re mine. And I’m yours,” he tells me. “That okay with you?”-Rebel

UPDATE: Rebel is free for a limited period of time...so if you where curious about this book this is the time to get it HERE

Despite the fact that the Dead Man's Ink series are a standalone series, for the full impact of this novel I recommend reading first the Blood & Roses series. They can be read separately but personally the novel Rebel wouldn't have had the same impact if I wouldn't have read the Blood & Roses series first.

I have been waiting for this novel since I finished Sloane and Zeth's story and I found out that Rebel was next. I was so curious and excited for his story and let me tell you...Callie didn't let me down.

description

Rebel was not at all what I was expecting but I loved it. He is very complex and highly intelligent and not you're everyday MC President. He is also very tormented by his past and has been on a special mission for years now and in that time he has saved

"Sophia" is feisty and opinionated and everything Rebel needs but doesn't even know it. She assumes a new persona but quickly she discovers that her old self is gone and that she likes who Sofia is.

description

If you expect a lot of sex scenes you are going to be very disappointed because there are only 2 in this novel and only one that includes Rebel and Sophia and that is only at the end of the novel. Also this is not you're average MC novel so we don't get to see a lot of biker life except a few stories here and there.

description

But despite all that I really loved this novel and I'm looking forward to the next one because war is coming and it will be served with a side of revenge.

4.5 Zeth who? Stars!

 photo image.jpg1_zpsruxwyk36.jpg

Yet another Callie Hart hero that has captured my heart! Rebel is about the infamous Widow Makers MC president. This tells about his past and how he became who he is, and also about the events that led to him meeting Sophie/Alexis.

Though he started out as an honorable man in the Marines, Rebel now runs a ruthless and dangerous motorcycle club out of New Mexico.

 photo image.jpg2_zpstqpvexua.jpg

Alexis is innocently on her way home when she comes across a man bleeding, asking for help. Before she realizes it, she is kidnapped and taken far away. She is frightened, and has no idea what is to become of her. Through a series of events, it is Rebel who ends up buying her, but not for deviant reasons.

The attraction is there for both characters, but with gangs, cartels, secrets, and lies, the stakes are high. Alexis, now known as Sophia, would just like to go back home to her parents and sister. But Rebel needs her for something, and he doesn't want to let her go.

The sexual tension is getting high for the tattooed bad boy and his beautiful semi-captive. With all the drama going around, how will everyone come out unscathed?

Well hello there Rebel...

I just want to put out there that I found my new book boyfriend and I want to have his babies! Don't get me wrong, Zeth is still high on the list, but there is something about Rebel.

So now that that's out of the way, let's talk about the book.

After reading and loving the Blood and Roses series, I knew I was going to enjoy getting this alternative storyline. There is always that exciting and dangerous intensity that goes along with the books I've read by Callie Hart. And let's not forget about how hot and steamy things can get.

I really liked getting to know what had happened to Alexis/Sophia, and of course getting to know more about the mysterious Rebel. I surprising really liked the heroine's character. I feel like she had good judgement based on the different people who had captured her. She knew when to shut up, what to say, but also wasn't willing to take any shit.

This first book is just getting started, and I can't believe we waited til the very end for the two to get together. Although there wasn't too much sexual tension in the book between them, as a reader, I was chomping at the bit for one of them to make a move. Delayed gratification is never wrong in my eyes, and just made it that much sweeter.

I deducted a half of a star because it's just the beginning and its a rarity for me to give 5 stars for the first book of a series unless it's EPIC. Also, this is more of a personal thing, but I'm not a fan of too many characters. Sometimes it's hard for me to keep everyone straight. And there are a lot of people in this first book.

Very excited to see what happens with everything. It does end with a cliffhanger, so be prepared. I really liked knowing a little of the background of the story, but I don't think it's necessary to read Callie's other series first. If you like a lot of action in your romance reads, I would definitely recommend.

POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

Live For Something. Or Die For Nothing

Alexis Romero was a dutiful daughter from a respectable family. One unfortunate night she found herself at the wrong place and time where she became a witness to a murder. She ended up being taken, given new identity as Sophia, and eventually sold to Rebel, the President of the Widow Makers MC who needed her for his own personal vendetta.

Rebel is a prequel spinoff from the Blood & Roses series which is one of my top favorite series. If you’ve read the series, you already got a glimpse of who Rebel was. If you haven’t read it, it won’t be a problem because it can be read as a standalone without any potential spoilers.

I love how this book perfectly explained the unknown situations that happened during this timeline that led to the events in B&R. Though I have to say, compared to B&R (which were novella length), this one had a little less intrigue and actions.

When I first came across Rebel’s character in B&R, I didn’t really like him. Then as we got to know his motivations, I ended up liking him and wanted to know more about him. This book made me fall in love with him. We got more of his past and his background, and boy, Rebel really was something else! I got nothing but respect to him.

I really love what made up The Widow Makers. They were not your typical MC with the varieties of the members and their rides. I adore Carnie because on the surface he was so not MC material.

I’m seriously fucking lucky to have my best friend at my back through this, just as he’s been at my back through everything else.

And of course I’ve love Rebel’s best friend, Cade since in B&R. I love that we got to learn more about their friendship and families.

I’m glad I finally warmed up to Alexis. She’s no Sloane, but she held up on her own. I understood now why things ended up happened the way it would be in the future.

I really like how Sophia and Rebel’s “relationship” developed. There wasn’t a relationship per se, at least not until the very end. But for something that didn’t have a lot of sexy times, these two managed to hold my attention. Their chemistry was great. I love the subtle pull and push between them.

“You’re feisty. I like that. And you give me shit. Not many people feel like they can do that.”
“Probably because they’re tied to a chair, scared for their lives, right?”

Rebel would definitely appeal to existing Blood & Roses fans and could very much gain new fans.

#Rebel

Speechless...literally, I can’t think of any other words to describe Rebel by Callie Hart but truly epic and amazing!!! Rebel happens to be the first book that I have read from this author and it definitely won’t be my last.

Heart pounding, gritty, raw, dark, sensual, and suspenseful. Those are the words that comes into my mind when I think of Rebel. This book was in your face raw and suspenseful and I absolutely loved every moment of this book. Rebel was one of those books that you couldn’t put down because the storytelling, writing and characters were so captivating and gripping. Every detail, emotions, and words were so eloquently written that this book was like watching a movie play before your eyes. As a big fan of MC Romance books, Rebel took it to another level of grit and excitement. There was so many twist and turns that was beautifully interlaced into the story that it made the book so captivating and consuming. I wanted to know more of Rebel and Alexis/Sophia because these characters made the book stand out. They were two fierce and strong characters who felt so REAL. Every emotions and vulnerability of these two were so exposed that you couldn’t get enough of the many layers that they add to the story.

#Rebel1

One night was all it took for the life of Alexis Romera to change instantly. Call it whatever you want...wrong place, wrong time but that night was when Alexis went from ordinary college student to a witness of a murder to a victim about to be to auctioned off to a human sex trafficking market. But what Alexis doesn’t know that there was someone risking his life and his club to rescue her since she could be the key in bringing justice to the man who was brutally murdered. And her savior was not a knight in shining armor but a President of the MC Widows Makers. A tough, gritty, raw, powerful man who exudes confidence and alpha male dominance. But what Alexis soon realizes, that this hot alpha male hero was a man who has a heart of gold. His passion for his club and doing right drives Alexis/Sophia to develop feelings for Rebel. She wants to hate him but she would be lying to herself because Rebel is the only one who can ignite this passion within her and he is the only one who will risk his life to protect her. So with danger lurking, how far will Rebel go to protect this new found love?

#Rebel2

Rebel was a consuming, raw, heart-pounding suspense that will grip you. It is one of the stories that has you begging for more. And if you were like me, I literally screamed NOOOO...when I read the ending of this first installment. Now, I am patiently waiting, well scratch that more like greedily awaiting to get my hands on book 2. I need more REBEL and Sophia/Alexis. And when a book has me begging for more, then I can happily say this book is a 5 star read!!!

As many of you know from the Blood & Roses series, Rebel is the President of the Widow Makers Motorcycle Club. His physical presence is magnetic: dark hair, ice blue eyes, tall and muscular build. He also has a reputation as an outlaw for running drugs and weapons; however, there is much more dimension to Rebel than just a club patch.
“I do the things I say I’m going to do. I keep the promises I make. If I say something, you can take it to the bank.”

Alexis/Sophia is an innocent bystander who witnesses a murder by a rival gang of the Widow Makers. In trying to help the victim, she is abducted by this gang with the intention of being sold to the highest bidder. It isn’t until Rebel acts when Sophia and Rebel’s paths meet.
“Then the smartest thing you can do right now is hold onto me and not let go until I tell you.’

By the end of Collateral (Book 6 – Blood & Roses series), we know Sophia is Sloane’s sister and that she made the choice to live with Rebel but we never knew how they met and why Sophia decided to make such a change in her life. In this first book of the Dead Man’s Ink series, the foundation is laid for Rebel and Sophia’s story along with a multilayered plot. We learn about Rebel’s life before the Widow Makers and how this impacts the present. Rebel certainly surprised me in many good ways. Being able to finally read about Sophia’s story made me understand why she made her choices and I now have no doubts as to her decision.
“You’re attracted to me, despite everything, and I’m attracted to you. We want each other, Sophia. It’s the reason why you’re so terrified right now.”

The sexual tension in this book was off the charts! From the beginning, Rebel is attracted to Sophia but really doesn’t believe anything will happen as he has other plans for her. Sophia refuses to succumb to Stockholm’s Syndrome and refuses to acknowledge Rebel for anything more than her captor. However, as Sophia learns more about Rebel, she starts to see him in a new light. Let me just say that I could not wait for the sparks to explode! While Rebel may appear to have a gruff exterior, he can turn on the southern charm in a flash! When it finally happened, I was ready to smoke a cigarette to revel in my post-sex Rebel haze!

description

In true Callie Hart fashion, the plot is well developed along with a multi-dimensional cast of characters. The plot was paced well for most of the book, but there were parts where I felt the story was bogged down with too much story setup. Once I got to the end, I understood where Callie was taking the story, but I was so hard up for some sexy time that I got a little sexually frustrated. Suffice it to say that the buildup of sexual tension is so worth it because Rebel delivered on all counts!

For those who are fans of the Blood & Roses series, you will not be disappointed Callie’s newest series, Dead Man’s Ink. Be prepared for a huge cliffhanger in this one, but the great news is that Rogue (book #2) was released just yesterday! Enjoy!

i realy liked this book, i think the beginning was realy dark and intence, but when Rebel, saved her from Hector it wasnt, that dark untill the realy scary cliffhunger, but i was afraid the ending, would be much werse. I did think the book was a bit slow moving in the middle of the book and i wanted more sexiness, but on the other hand why the relotionship developed slowly and didnt jump into sex or foreplay quickly, like most other captive books, made total sence. There relonthip was developing gradually with them getting to know each, other and Rebel, not poushing Sophia into anything, i mean its normal for them not to jump in bed with each other considering, her being kidnapped and there lifes in peril all the time, with sirius matters at hand,i do think that considering Sophia had a happy family life and Colledge for me it seemed unbeleivable how quickly, she desided to give it all up,considering,Rebel let her go realy early on and she didnt even warn her perents and reading Sloans book its obvius how despirate she was and worried abought Sophia it would have been diferent if Sophia called her early on,but i can complitly see how she fell for Rebel i mean he isnt a rapist didnt attack her and just wanted justice for his Uncles death, also he proved himself to her showing what a good guy he is and how he is ready to protect, her and thoes he loveds, before she actually fell for him.Rebel well he is a complex charecter, he has many sides to him, but unlike other captors he isnt abusive and he wants to find other means to fight, than murder untill, theres no other way.He is feirecly protective of thoes he has under his wing and i beleived in his feelings for Sophia.I liked Sophias and Rebel's chemistry and bantner and that they both are equally, tough.I also like that theres a feminist element to Rebel and his Club, that he alows wouman to be eqal and likes them being badass istead of treating them, like only Old Lady or prostitude marterial.after reading book two im certain Sophia would rock as a Prospect and they will be always there for each other.I also like Cade and think he is a complex charecter all by himself and deserves his own story. I think i would have liked it to be more fased paced, though cause it draged at times and too see more reletionship developement out of the couple, also it draged quit a bit but thats always the case

“You’re mine, now, Soph. For as long as you want to be, you’re mine. And I’m yours.”

Ever since I finished the golden Blood And Roses series I was eager to know more about Sophia and Rebel's story! I was scared to started it because I knew that there would be a cliffhanger.. can you blame me?? BUT I finally made the desicion to read more about these two souls!

The story begin from the very beginning. How Alexis is on her way to home but instead of that she was a witness of a murder. She was kidnapped, drugged and taken away!

She was introduced to the ugly world. Where men buy girls, use them and then throw them. She was in that place not for a long time but enough to do damage to her. Despite her stubbornness she needed to listen to the people in order to stay alive. To be manhandled and to listen their ugly words and watch their actions..

But then Rebel is the one who to rescue her. The one who saved her!
His character was more complicared. He was an honorable man who was tortured by his father. He was a man have lost his best friend and because of that the man he once became is now gone. Despite everything he was smart, intelligent and sexy. His dirty mouth would make you panties melt imediatlly!!

“Revenge is a selfish act. Retaliation for something. Vengeance is a different thing altogether. It’s about obtaining justice, usually for someone who can’t claim it for themselves.”

Things between Sophie & Rebel progress throughout the story as both parties need something from the other. Rebel needs Sophie to be willingly to help them if it comes down to it and Sophie needs to get back to her family. But in the end everything became more. The develop feelings for each other that they couldn't just shake off.

“I can see into him, and I feel like I recognize him. Like he’s the piece of me that’s been missing all this time and I never even knew it.”

I loved Sophia! She was so strong, sassy and smart. As always Callie Hart create a badass heroine who is not strong to speak her mind. She was a fighter through the whole story. She was fiesty and her psychology major helped her in many situations. She used her knowledge in order to survive!

What I didn't like was that there was too much information that wasn't necessary (for me) and that their whole relationship develop towards the end of the book! And of course it would left you wanting MORE!

NOW I am waiting for the next book !!! HURRY UP, October!

I have to give Callie Hart some props here. She set the bar VERY high with the original Blood & Roses series, and I was so nervous to read this book as a result. But let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed with Rebel, AT ALL.

I LOVED Sophia (Alexis) and Rebel. The banter between the two was so funny and yet beneath the humor, you could literally FEEL the sexual tension building between these two. You want them to get together so bad; and not only to reap the benefits of the amazing sex scene you KNOW will be happening at some point. And OMG...what a great sex scene it was.

The author has a true talent for taking the ever popular MC Romance genre and creating her own spin on it. The heroine in Rebel is strong and witty. The hero is a broken (always a personal favorite of mine) and sexy alpha. The plot twists were great. The sexual tension was SCORCHING, as was the sex scene. The other guys in the MC were lovable and could easily all have thier own spinoff. And, last but not least, her writing was flawless- as always.

As a result of the MASSIVE cliffhanger at the end of this book, it's safe to say that II will be waiting on bated breath for book #2! ! CAN'T WAIT!

First off, I will say that I LOVE Rebel! If I could collect book boyfriends...he most definitely would be in my collection! The trouble is, I was honestly a tad disappointed with this book. I had high hopes for it, and have been waiting for it to come out. The main reason is that Rebel and Sophia took what seemed like forever to actually share page time together. When they finally did, there wasn't a ton of sexy scenes...in fact, the deed wasn't done until almost the end. Sigh..Now, those of you who know me, know that I really like my sex scenes in the stories that I read! Yup, I'll admit that I am a pervert at heart! LOL So this fact really bothered me through out the story. In fact, it was a distraction to me, as I feel that MY Rebel...is highly sexual!! (my opinion only!)
Will I read the next installment? Absolutely, because there story does continue; and I'm nosy and want to know what exactly has gone on between these two. In Callie Hart's other series, Sophia and Rebel were entwined with the hero and heroine in it. So, I for sure recommend readint the "Blood &Roses" series first.. Sophia's sister is the heroine in that one, and it is a sizzling series.

I know that Callie Hart writes a major HOT book. So, I am going to stick with this series because I KNOW lots more is coming, and I know things will for sure be heating up between Rebel and his lady! I am all in! Just somewhat disappointed with what I got in this one. The writing is good though, and maybe if my expectations weren't something else, then I would have had more enjoyment. I will have to work on my perverted self and learn that not all books need to have a ton of sex in it!!! YA RIGHT! I can dream...but I love my escapes..and that happens to be one of the main factors in a story that I truly enjoy..Think of me what you will...:-P

Nothing shocks you like a bullet hole Leaving my fear on the danger line Suffering no man should never know
Leaving my faith on the danger line I know what you're thinking, I've been there before (Danger Line by Avenged Sevenfold)

OMG what the hell did I just read? Sure the build up was slow but the whole book was climatically explosive! So much so that my mouth about hit the floor, one word springs to mind.....damnnnn! For the record I want a rebel of my own. I think every woman out there feels the same. Badass biker, former marine, war hero willing to take on the under bellies in the criminal organization of human traffickers... Oorah just bring it, that's on a good day! Love it.. love it, my heart was a pounding a mile a minute as the fireworks kept building. A definite five star read!

Rebel and Sophia's Story....what can I say....keep the goodness coming Miss Callie Hart!!

 photo Collage_zps2iwsisug.jpg

Rebel, sexy, dominating president of The Widow Makers MC. Rebel knows he is not a good man. He breaks the law, he kills people, he hurts people and has no regret. But....there is one thing he doesn't do, torture and sell women. No woman deserves that and he risks himself and his club members lives to save these women. Helping them out of the darkness into a better life, hopefully better than death.

Sophia, beautiful, innocent girl, walking in the wrong place at the very wrong time. What she witnesses is horror to her eyes, but she has no way out. To keep her silenced, she is abducted by the worst kind of scum. Preparing for her own end, she is met by one saving eyes and a simple sentence.....

"Tell them you're a virgin....whatever happens, make sure Hector knows this."

Confused and now scared even more, she pushes this into the back of her survival mode mentality.

As Sophia is tossed into hell, waiting to be attacked and killed at any moment, she learns she has been sold. She is leaving the hell for a new unknown hell. What she doesn't expect is to be sold to the Widow Makers President.

Rebel needs Sophia for his revenge, his redemption for a life lost that needs to be avenged. What Rebel is not ready for...the feisty, mouthy, Sophia to stand up to him and fight him every step of the way. She will not surrender to his demands so easily.

"She comes alive when she's angry. A thrill of adrenalin stabs through me, sending mixed signals to my cock; provoking such a violent reaction from her is provoking an entirely different reaction from me."

Fighting her hardness might not be so hard if feelings of need and want didn't rise into the equation. The sexual tension is high and both Rebel and Sophia feel it but neither want to break their tough exterior to feel it's intensity.

 photo whisper_zpspcsba8wn.jpg

"I want you to break apart in my arms. I want to be the only fucking thing holding you together."

Sophia knows this is it, she can't fight herself and her feeling and she definitely can't fight the man the wants.

"I suddenly don't feel safe anymore, and it isn't because of Rebel. It's because of ME ."

Their passion and heat is off the charts. Their mind and body's are connected in ways neither can explain. If only that passion and desire could last longer.

They hear a scream and see blood, then evil appears from behind them. Their not so distant past has just shown up to create a mess of new hell for both Rebel and Sophia!!

4 Louis James Aubertin the third Stars!

After reading the Blood and Roses series I became a fan of Callie Hart and I couldn't wait to read Rebel and Sophia's story. We get to see just enough of Rebel's cocky side in the B&R series that left me intrigued and dying for more.

Alexis Romera's life is turned upside down when she witnesses the murder of a man in an alley and then is ultimately taken. Her kidnappers find her fake ID and from then on she's known as Sophia. Listening to the instructions of a stranger, she claims to be a virgin and later is sold to the highest bidder.

Rebel is the leader of the Widow Makers MC and just so happens to be the nephew of the murdered man that Sophia witnessed. He also knows that Sophia was trying to help his uncle before he died, so he does what he can to help her. He makes the highest offer and buys her from her kidnappers.

Rebel needs to get Sophia to testify to witnessing his uncles murder, but her kidnappers have already threatened to hunt her and her family down if she ever says a word. But she's not so trusting of Rebel, even though he promises to release her. The relationship and sexual tension between these two slowly grows not only driving them crazy, but the reader as well.

This is the first of a three part series which does end on a cliffhanger. I cannot wait until the next installment is released not only to find out what happens next, but to get more of Rebel and Sophia's story. I'm anxiously awaiting!
